Discuss Planning For A future USS Mckee AS-41 Reunion

Welcome to the "Discuss Having A Reunion For The USS Mckee AS-41" Message Board. Here you can discuss with other crew members about holding a reunion. To my knowledge their had not been a USS Mckee AS-41 reunion. So it's about time we start working toward having one. Feel free to add your thoughts on a reunion here.

This message board is a custom solution that I am creating for this purpose. For now it only allows you to add postings. In the very near future you will be able to have others add their comments to your postings. Additionally, you will be able to receive an email message (with your email address not available to the public) of any comments made to your postings. Even more features are contemplated for the future.

Hey Guys- I'm all in if we can pull this off. Lets get this reunion going!
Ray- Thanks for the web site- Its great. I'm looking forward to your suggestions on how to put this thing together. Maybe we can get advise from other commands that have done this a time or two? I notice the USS Proteus had a reunion in 2006 (Most of the crew were 60 to 90 years old by 2006). I've been in touch with a couple in A Gang in the last few weeks. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Cheers!

Terry (Plank Owner)

I think one of the first things might be to send out something to gauge the interest in a reunion. If there are only a few, than plans would be different than if we were to expect 2 or 3 hundred

Sherry I'll help with the emailing...planning well do we know anyone still in the area of San Diego? Maybe get a good rate at a hotel in the area, if we get enough committed. We could use this site to do the emailing....We could break it down and all of us do some of it....Now we need to decide when where time etc. before emailing everyone don't you think? May Lt Cmdr. Plumlee could help us..he's been to a few reunions.

I was in Mission Bay several years back and I couldn't believe how much it had changed. A lot of our old haunts are gone. I think the only way to contact everyone is through e-mail. I can help with the e-mailing, but as for planning, that's not one of my strong suits!!!

Okay people it is June already time is a wasting!!

We need to get are act together and get this thing going.

I think we need to elect 3-4 people to plan this reunion example: where is event going to be held
how to get a hold of everyone, ect. ect.

I was a patternmaker (PM3) aboard the McKee from 1987-1989. Please update me on where the reunion is expected to be held, and when. I didn't find this information on the site...older, and worse eyesight....
I have recently been in touch with another crewmember from my era, who is in constant touch with another. Maybe I can help network the information, or at least get the website out there.

I am fully game for this. As a plankowner it would be awsome to see some old faces again. The arrive Thursday and leave Sunday idea is great. Any time of year is great however the summer months would be awsome as it is 120 degrees here in Phoenix.

Okay ladies and gentlemen. At one time or another a good portion of you plankowners have talked about a reunion. Now is your chance to start voicing your ideas, such as:
Location?
Time of year?
How many days?

Knock, Knock, HELLO!!!!!!

Let's rock and roll!!! We aren't getting any younger!

my thoughts, September, October maybe. San Diego maybe, everyone arrive Thursday, leave on Sunday?

Any other ideas???

Author:  Ray Plumlee, Boise, Idaho   Added: February 11, 2008         Read Posting
Welcome to the first posting in the "Discuss Planning For A future USS Mckee AS-41 Reunion" Message Board.

I have had this web site up for a couple of years now in the hopes of generating some interest in a reunion. To date only a couple of people have contacted me.

Therefore, I am taking another step. Actually, I will be taking several steps toward this. This discussion board is only the first. I hope to add more resources to this web site in the future in hopes of generating more interest.

Now for the purpose of this Message Board. I need those of you who are interested to start posting questions, suggestions, tips etc. about where, when, and how we should have a reunion. Let's get started! Any valid comments will be appreciated.
